AGENDA/HISTORY: The agenda will include a discussion around a 25-acre walnut plantation which we started planting in 1990 and completed in 1996. The trees were all planted per the max. sunlight orientation. Approx. 7.5 acres have been thinned. Also, we are next to Laughery Creek and the land had a lot of natural walnut trees which are still there in their natural habitat. When we planted this land, some wet areas did not grow walnut, so we planted swamp white oak, sweetgum, shellbark hickory, persimmon, and black gum. These species did quite well in the wet areas and walnut in the vicinity seem to do much better afterwards. We also have 2 chestnut trees which I think are a cross with the Chinese chestnut that are doing quite well.
