Cutter I logger training
Focuses on introducing the participant to open face felling and the development of techniques to safely use it. Topics covered include personal protective equipment, chainsaw safety features, chainsaw reactive forces, bore cutting, pre-planning the fell, and understanding hinge wood strength. The instructor is Joe Glenn, who trained under international logging expert Soren Erikson, founder of the Game of Logging. Safety is a priority and proper cutting techniques are taught.
Participants are required to bring their own equipment and safety gear, including chaps, hard hats, gloves and eye and ear protection, as well as a chain saw, oil, gas and tools, a first aid kit and good work boots. Classes are $100 per day for IHLA members and $150 for non-members.
