Recently, a misinformation campaign directed at members of the General Assembly and the public suggests forest management is not good for our forests. Consequently, legislation is being considered that would prohibit management on 30% of State Forests, SB275, which IFWOA opposes (see our position statement). As woodland owners, we may have different opinions on specific issues, but we understand these issues are much more complex than a yard sign, a headline, or soundbite. As sentiment by legislators and the public grows against forestry, we are leaving nothing to chance.
Organizing our IFWOA grassroots team in all five districts is critical. But we cannot achieve this alone; we need your help. Volunteers can help in the following ways:
- Sign up to receive policy outreach emails
- Talk to your legislators via email, phone calls, or woodland tours
- Testify at hearings in Indianapolis
- Donate to support our legislative outreach and messaging efforts
